OVERVIEW The Arts Gallery is an exhibition space in the heart of central London, dedicated to promoting the creative talent of specialist art and design subjects taught at the University of the Arts London. The Gallery programme, comprises six exhibitions a year and includes solo shows, which are often the featured artist's first major show, survey shows focusing on a theme or medium and group shows. Recent exhibitions have featured work by distinguished alumni including Peter Doig (Chelsea, 1990), Sarah Lucas (LCC, 1984), Chris Ofili (Chelsea, 1991), Gillian Wearing (Chelsea, 1987) and Mark Wallinger (Chelsea, 1981), as well as work by lesser known recent graduates at the beginning of their careers. Described by the Evening Standard as 'good for discovering promising artists', the Arts Gallery is fast building a reputation as a launch pad for the latest art and design talent in the UK. The Gallery is located at: University of the Arts London, 65 Davies Street, London, W1K 5DA NUMBER AND SIZE OF EXHIBITIONS Six exhibitions per year MANAGEMENT AND ORGANISATION The Gallery is run as part of The Emerging Artists' Programme at University of the Arts London, which is the only programme of its kind in the UK. This innovative scheme was created to provide opportunities for recent alumni from across the University's six Colleges with the aim to promote their work and develop their careers during the formative years after graduation. The Programme is made up of three strands - the Arts Gallery, the University Art Collection and the Artists' & Collectors' Exchange. Medeia Cohan-Petrolino is Curator of the Gallery and heads the Emerging Artists’ Programme. ASPIRATIONS AND INTENTIONS FOR THE CHEAD GALLERY NETWORK The Arts Gallery would like to make connections with other University galleries, explore opportunities to tour our shows and Collection, create partnerships and generally engage with and learn from other institutions, while raising the profile of the Arts Gallery and providing more opportunities for our Alumni.
