2nd cohort of CHEAD Leadership Development Programme, 21 / 22 October 2011

Following the success of last year’s pilot, CHEAD has opened a second cohort of the CHEAD Leadership Development Programme.

Feedback from the first cohort had been overwhelmingly positive. Indeed, four members of that cohort have since moved on to more senior positions.

This seminar is targeted at Associate Deans / Subject Heads / Heads of School within a Faculty or Institute in art and design and likely to be applying for top management posts within the next 5-year period, or early-career Deans or Directors.

The CHEAD Leadership Development Programme consists of the following modules:

  • The opening seminar, Cambridge, 21 / 22 October. Aims: To provide participants with a better understanding of leadership and management of art and design HE institutions in the UK, how they can enhance their leadership and management abilities and develop their careers.
  • Financial Leadership and Planning, Huddersfield, 13 January 2012
  • Change, people and performance, Wolverhampton, Spring 2012 (date tbc)
  • Building Research Capacity, Brighton, date tbc
  • This programme is supported by mentoring by a team of highly experienced senior managers from the art and design sector.

Speakers during the programme include: Professor Janet Beer, Vice Chancellor, Oxford Brookes University & Chair of the University Alliance; Dr. Bryony Conway, Dean of School of Art & Design, University of Wolverhampton & CHEAD Executive; Professor John Last, Principal, Norwich University College of the Arts; and Professor Maureen Wayman OBE, University of Leeds.

We still have some places available on the opening seminar, which will be held at the Møller Centre, Cambridge, Friday / Saturday, 21/22 October 2011.
