2023 Trustee Elections

Positions available on the Board of Trustees in March 2023

We have two vacancies for Trustee roles in March 2023.

Trustee
The role of Trustee ensure the strategic oversight of the charity’s decision making, sustainability and good governance.

In addition, we have three Honorary Officer Trustee roles available on the Board with specific responsibilities:

Chair
The role of the Chair is to provide strategic leadership to the organisation and its Board of Trustees and support the delivery of the charity’s mission and vision.

Vice Chair
The Vice Chair works in close dialogue with the Chair and the Honorary Treasurer in the strategic leadership of CHEAD and implementing issues related to CHEAD
governance.

Treasurer
The role of the Treasurer is to monitor the financial standing of the charity and report to the Board on the overarching strategic management of the organisation’s financial resources.

CHEAD is proactive in the receipt of nominations from underrepresented communities within our membership as we continue to build capacities in incorporating different perspectives.

As a membership body focussing on equity, diversity and inclusivity, we want to promote and support better representation across our board membership. We seek applicants for co-opted Trustees with additional knowledge and expertise within social justice practice and creative HE, to build capacity within our board and centre the voices of staff of colour and marginalised groups at the foreground of meaningful change.

Nominations
Elections for Trustee vacancies arising each year take place during the CHEAD Annual General Meeting which takes place in the the Spring. In order to stand for election a candidate must be the main representative for a CHEAD institutional member, or have received the support of the main representative. No single institutional member may be represented by more than one Trustee on the Board. A list of those member institutions already represented on the CHEAD Board of Trustees can be found here

Individuals wishing to submit a nomination should complete a nomination form and submit this via the CHEAD website, links can be found below. All nomination statements are then circulated to the main member with voting rights at each member institution and those members vote at the Annual General Meeting. Successful applicants are announced during the AGM.

Deadline for nominations: Tuesday 21st February 2023, 9am

Successful applicants
A comprehensive induction process is in place to support new Trustees including a full briefing meeting with both CHEAD Directors and a one to one meeting with the Chair. Additional training can also be organised should this be required.

CHEAD Board of Trustees

Our Board of Trustees consists of 9 elected Trustees and up to 4 co-opted trustees and 2 expert Trustees.

We seek to ensure that the Trustees reflect the diversity of our CHEAD membership and the breadth of our strategic and charitable objectives.
