In 2016, it was presented with the Award for Innovation in Design Education by The Sir Misha Black Awards Committee for our innovative approach to design teaching. We received special recognition for TheGallery and for commissioning the first purpose-built Drawing Studio in the UK for over 100 years.
TheGallery showcases work by contemporary artists and designers from around the world, including collections on loan from major galleries and museums. It delivers an exciting portfolio of events, international exhibitions, as well Academic Panel Discussions. It has commissioned projects building upon the creative collaboration between Arts University Bournemouth and industry. We seek to enhance the cultural capital of the students, staff and alumni whilst providing a public platform for the arts within the region.
text+work is the concept which underpins the exhibition programme and creative events at the Arts University Bournemouth. It promotes a forum for challenging dialogue between innovative contemporary art, design and media practice and its theoretical context. text+work furthers the scholarship and research agenda of the University and shares research activity through exhibitions and published texts and books. It is a valuable resource for the University and is integrated into its teaching, learning and research.
AUB has a series of art collections and sculptures on display across the campus. These include the University’s own Art Collection, and artworks on loan from Public and Private Collections to include Arts Council Collection.
TheGallery runs its own Touring Exhibition Programme, curating high quality exhibitions that have toured both nationally and internationally, including its noted celebration of the designer Lucienne Day, Lucienne Day: Living Design.
