EDI Alliance Meeting
This meeting will bring together CHEAD members with responsibility around Equity, Diversity and Inclusion at their institution for discussion and exploration of current issues such as: recruitment and student experience.
We will be joined by Shakira Martin, Head of Student Experience at Rose Bruford College and former NUS President 2017-19 and founder at The Class of 2020. Shakira will talk about her thoughts on the student movement and the importance of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion from a student aspect.
We will also explore how the CHEAD EDI Alliance can support members in the future and what the priorities are for this Alliance going forward.

Shakira MartinHead of Student Experience, Rose Bruford CollegeShakira Martin is former president of the National Union of students 2017-19 being the elected first black woman to hold the role and the second to study at a Further Education College. Shakira is currently the Head of Student Experience at Rose Bruford College and Founder of The Class of 2020 #Digiprom which hosted the first event digital student celebration, celebrating the achievements of students across the country who were unable to graduate due to Covid-19. Shakira. Shakira is passionate about social justice, social mobility, equality, diversity and inclusion and uses her experience of overcoming adversity to inspire, empower and motivate students and young people.
